This week we will be working on writing our first essay. Please make changes to your intro based on our discussion in class today. Remember, your thesis statement is the heart of your essay. In that one statement–that idea– you are guiding your entire essay. Here’s an example of an effective thesis statement: In A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park, Salva experiences many difficult losses, yet he is strengthened by his pain and becomes a leader.
If you feel you have a strong introduction written, you may begin writing your first developing paragraph. Review the handout on writing a developing paragraph that I handed out today.
