SSPP Community Clothing Exchange

Our SSPP Parish Faith Community hosted a record-breaking Community Clothing Exchange on Saturday, October 21st!

This year marked the largest number of donations EVER received, the largest number of volunteers EVER, and the largest number of “shoppers” EVER!

Within a few minutes of opening our doors the morning of the clothing exchange, our school gym was filled with 100 shoppers searching for treasures.  All of those treasures were generously donated by our parishioners, school families and Tony Walker & Co.

Every year, we have an amazing story to share about one of our shoppers. This year, a shopper told us how appreciative she is to be able to outfit her family every year from our clothing exchange. She is a mom of 14 children – 7 of whom are adopted from Guatemala! Several of her children need to wear black pants to work and she was able to find pairs of pants for them for FREE right here at SSPP.

For her, and the countless others that benefited from our clothing exchange, THANK YOU!!

Thank you to the 50 volunteers who helped sort, set up and clean up this year! We were so touched by the great response of new volunteers this year joining our faithful repeat volunteers. Our volunteers were moms and dads and grandmas with young children, current SSPP school students, former SSPP school students, sisters, brothers, and parishioners young and old.

As always, a community outreach of this magnitude would not be possible without our wonderful SSPP custodial staff.  These gentlemen really are the heart of the success of our clothing exchange. They transport countless bags and boxes of donations to and from our school garages and prepare the gym for us every year.

Stay tuned for our 10th annual Community Clothing Exchange next October!
