Mrs. Zuccaro

Name: Candace Zuccaro
Subjects/Grades taught: Grade 4, also taught Kindergarten at Holy Name of Jesus at the beginning of teaching career
How many years teaching? 21 years
How many years at SSPP? 15 years
What do you love most about teaching at SSPP? I love the closeness and “family feel” of our entire school- the faculty and staff, as well as our students and their families.  It sounds cliche, but we really DO all seem like family and we care about each other!
Awards/Accolades:  Researched and developed the STREAM program, “Kitchen Chem-Edible Science” with SSPP 3rd grade teacher Mrs. Graffasi.  The duo was then asked to teach the course to teachers in the Diocese of Cleveland.
Favorite book:  Bud, Not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis
Favorite food:  My homemade lasagna, using my mother-in-law’s sauce and meatball recipes.
Favorite movie: Ever since I was a child, when it was an annual tradition, I still love watching the Wizard of Oz!
Favorite lesson or theme you teach: I love teaching my fourth graders our social studies curriculum, which is all about New York State.  I especially like teaching them about the construction of the Erie Canal, which is particularly interesting since they are familiar with it.  We go on a field trip to the Lockport Caves and Underground Boat ride, so they see the canal and locks up close!
